“What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us."                                                     - A.W. Tozer, from "The Pursuit of God.

Rarely is a truer word spoken.  A.W. Tozer has hit the proverbial nail on the head, while stepping on a nerve in each of us.  The most important thing?  Really?  It causes our spirits to squirm in discomfort with how deep this penetrates.  However, to understand the truth of this statement, we must smooth our ruffled feathers, swallow the bile that rises in our throats, and go back to the beginning.

Tozer’s revelation stings us so much because

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”– Proverbs 9:10

Many people struggle with the concept of the fear of the Lord.  Some believe it is a shaking-in-our-boots kind of fear, a trembling under the mighty hand of God.  Others think it is a feeling of awe and wonder because of His nature.  These concepts are a distinct part of fearing the Lord, but I believe there is yet another.

Psalms 14:1 says, “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”  Suddenly, the fear of the Lord is about more than obtaining wisdom – this is a crisis of the human heart.  We as humans have eternity written on our hearts – by God.  We have an insatiable longing for a higher connection, a deeper relationship, to be known and loved at the core of who we are – these longings are put there by God. "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." - John 1:14

John the Beloved speaks of the greatest mystery ever known: our eternal God becoming a mortal man.  Our majestic God wrapping Himself in human flesh.  Our humble God coming as a baby, as a servant, and a sacrifice.  Jesus left His realm of glory - for us.  Jesus took on the form of a bondservant - for us.  He laid His life down - for us.  Everything He did was for us.

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God… - Luke 18:15-17

Hannahs and Samuels started after a conversation Sheena (AHOP’s Director) and I had, about raising up children to chase after the heart of God as worshippers. Our first HandS was very small and we had about 4 kids. Nonetheless, it was awesome to see kids so interested in worship, and to see 3 and 5 year olds engaging, lifting their little hands and singing the songs they knew. I was surprised at their knowledge and understanding of God. But in order for children to cultivate hearts of worship, they need to know that the only One, True God, loves them and enjoys them, and that they are just as
